URARAKAZE-うらら風-
A brewery crafting exceptional beers born from the interplay of agriculture and fermentation—this is our collaboration beer with FLORA FERMENTATION (FLORA). FLORA started brewing around the same time as us, and they're based in the same Kansai region, in a quiet part of Shiga Prefecture. The brewers are close to us in age too, so they're one of the breweries I've come to feel a personal kinship with. While we share other things in common, one big difference is that FLORA grows their own raw ingredients, including grains and hops. Beer, among alcoholic beverages, is largely a capital-intensive, equipment-driven industry, and there are very few places that take on the extra labor of growing their own ingredients while also brewing. I truly have nothing but respect for FLORA. For this collaboration, we were able to use rye grown by FLORA. (For their part, FLORA made a porter using buckwheat harvested in our Keihoku area.) This was our first time using an unmalted grain, requiring a mashing process different from our usual—so it was a brewing experience full of new discoveries. The beer style is a Belgian Session Rye IPA. Alongside the refreshing hop character you'd expect from a Session IPA, we hope you'll clearly taste FLORA's rye. Taste The top aroma offers a tropical impression reminiscent of passion fruit, enfolding the toasty, spicy notes of grains led by rye, along with a floral yeast character. On the palate, the toasty flavors of dark malt are joined by full tropical and dank hop flavors. Despite its deep color, its light ABV gives it a clean, crisp finish.
